Aaron’s expertise lies in the recreational side of water - both in its liquid and frozen form - although he also possesses a Bachelors of Science degree in Environmental Science with an emphasis in freshwater ecology.
Aaron was a professional river guide and instructor for 8 years and has taught swiftwater rescue trainings for over 15 years to first responders, river guides, and recreational boaters. He currently owns Southwest Rescue where he is a Swiftwater Rescue Instructor Trainer for Rescue 3 International.
Aaron has also been actively involved in the snow and avalanche industry for over 20 years. He started as a ski patroller at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area in California and now is a ski guide and avalanche educator here in Southwest Colorado. He currently serves as an Instructor Trainer and Pro Trainer for the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) for whom he instructs avalanche courses around the western US. Aaron teaches ski and avalanche courses for both Fort Lewis College’s Adventure Education Department and San Juan Mountain Guides.
